We are a group of volunteers whose goal is to provide an environment that allows SAP HCM Users to network, share experiences, and learn about innovative solutions to day-to-day HCM workplace challenges.
Prior to 2005, SAP HCM users were looking for opportunities to discuss day-to-day processes with other users and to share with them system improvements being made. SAP was hosting annual meetings, which was eventually replaced by the North American Annual ASUG Conference. The Canadian-specific business and legislative requirements were no longer covered in the sessions that were taken on by ASUG and held in the United States.
In the Fall of 2005, the local Québec and Ottawa ASUG Chapters started combined sessions focused on SAP HCM and Payroll. Word got out and, starting in 2006, these local chapter meetings quickly replaced the American conference and became known as the ASUG HCM Canada Conference. These meetings continue today and in 2013, ASUG took on the full responsibility for this conference.
Around 2013, the original founding members of the local SAP HCM meetings wanted to get back to a truly user-centric sharing environment. In 2013 our group Human Capital Management Education & Networking (HCM E&N) was formed. The main objective of this forum is for users to share their experience, improvements, decision making and challenges around SAP HCM, Time and Payroll and meetings were held twice a year to enable this to happen.
In 2016, HCM E&N decided to hold one annual meeting but with the same user-centric focus. The one-day meeting, now held only in the fall, focuses on HR functionality including Success Factors, as well as Payroll and Time functionality. The sessions are typically in English but the material will be in both languages.
As in the past, this meeting continues to be complimentary – no registration fees. A simplified registry has been implemented to simplify the organizing and logistics of this meeting.
A volunteer committee organizes each meeting with each committee member having responsibilities for securing presenters, confirming logistics, soliciting sponsors, and writing and drafting communication material. The success of the HCM E&N group depends heavily on the committee and the various users who attend and support the annual meetings.

Cavelle Lane is a seasoned HR Manager whose career has focused primarily on driving efficiencies in the administration of people management processes. She is a proven leader in continuous improvement. Her 15+ years of experience include leading several process/technology implementations for both large and small corporations. She has led a multi-year HR process improvement and technology implementation project, overseeing both the project and change management of this project. Her vast experience has given her valuable insight into hybrid SAP/SuccessFactors implementations.
Cavelle is a Canadian Certified Human Resources Leader. In the last few years, she has spoken at industry events including SuccessConnect in Las Vegas in 2015 about her experience thus far with Success Factors. She often places emphasis in Change management and lessons learned in implementing leading edge technologies to transform companies.
Cavelle is committed to lifelong learning and her latest accomplishment was completing her graduate studies in Change Management in 2016. On a personal level, Cavelle maintains a worklife balance by spending time with family, friends and in the great Canadian outdoors. She thrives on activities such as skiing, boating, golfing, hiking and walking.
HCM E&N responsibilities: Event agenda, presenters, website content review
Patrick has been working in the information systems and technologies field for over 18 years. During these years he, had the opportunity to work as an IT Technical support specialist, programmer, but mostly as a functional and technical business analyst and configurator. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to participate in several major implementations and software upgrades (SAP, HR systems, acquisitions and corporate segregations, etc.) and to lead numerous projects of medium and small size. Very analytical, process and people oriented, Patrick is quick learner and a jack of all trade of a sort. He is currently responsible not only for the support, improvement and development of HR systems, but also for several non-HR applications and SAP modules, such as Plant Maintenance and Customer Services, Production Planning, Document management, other satellite SAP cross-application modules, off-the shelf software and in-house developed applications. Although Patrick has been working for L-3 MAS for all these eighteen years, that fast moving leading edge company still succeeds to feed him the variety of challenges and opportunities nourishing his motivation and thirst for new experiences.
Olivier has over 19 years of experience in IT consulting and application delivery. He has a proven track record in project, portfolio & program management, and successfully implementing innovative business transformation programs enabled by technology.
Throughout his consulting and business career, he managed and implemented large strategic ERP systems on Cloud and On Premise, with a specialization in the Transportation industry for a top 5 consulting firm. In addition, he held an IT executive director position for a large North American railroad company as head of all information technology projects, managing a portfolio of over 100 projects worth 100 million dollars. He implemented the SAP HCM suite and several recruiting & workforce management products.
Olivier is the Vice-President of Innovation & Strategy at GROUP IN-RGY Consulting Inc. He is also directing the Workforce Software practice for North America.
Senior executive in the Human Capital space with over 20 years of experience, Sebastien is the co-founder of GROUP IN-RGY Consulting Inc. A true entrepreneur, he has built from the ground up a consulting firm based on his SAP HCM expertise. From 2007 to 2017, his company has grown in headcount over 2000% and over 1000% in revenue. Over the years, he has worked on various projects with many clients and is knowledgeable on most of the SAP HCM and SuccessFactors modules and functionality.
Sebastien has been involved with the SAP User Group Community since 2010 and believes in the collaboration of all SAP and SuccessFactors users; he sees these types of events as an opportunity for all to share their knowledge in a working session environment. Sebastien is a member of the HCM E&N Organizing Committee, a group created specifically for local Eastern Region (Quebec & Ottawa) SAP HCM users.
